Read MoreI am a Trash The Dress addict!! My hand is in the air and I fully admit to it! Why, because I love anything that is empowering for the self, that makes us step outside our usual comforts and makes us experience the world differently and a Trash The Dress shoot is exactly that. But lets face it, you’ve spent a ton of money on your absolute dream wedding dress and really, it should be dry-cleaned back to perfection and stuck in a box for 20 years right? Isn’t that what preserves our wedding dress?
Wrong!!! Well, in my opinion it’s darn wrong. Preserving your wedding dress is not putting it in a box. It is wearing it again! It is putting it on for another show! It is having more than just wedding day photos on your wall! That is preservation! That is legacy.
Why should the dream, the most sought after and expensive fashion purchase of our life be hidden away and never seen again. What a truly silly idea!
Read MoreI am on a mission for my daughter this morning (well, in truth for my sanity) and I’m afraid it means that this post has to be a visual stunner! And, lucky for me, it is! Which, incidentally also means, you don’t have to listen to me waffle on either
You see, it’s the second week of school holidays and as only other Mums would understand, my daughter has ‘cabin fever’ and is climbing the walls, which means I become extraordinarily grumpy because she’s bored and then we enter the ‘circle of grumpiness’ and we’re now stuck in that loop? School holidays (arrgghhh)
So I’ve gotta run, I’ve got to get rid of a lot of trapped energy in a small body (that’s Boo Bear’s) and release my inner calm by having morning tea with my BF!! Forgive me, but today has to be all about the photos and lucky for me they’re gorgeous and you’ve got to check out the frabjous matching socks!! I L-O-V-E them!

Read MoreMmm hmm! You know I love a trash the dress shoot and today’s shoot is sexy, sultry and a brilliant example of exactly how you can do it. This shoot caught my eye because of the purity that is normal people creating stunning memories, usually only made available for celebs!
Shot by Vanessa Hall, this trash the dress photo shoot makes you want to jump right in the water with the Bride & Groom! Her photography is beautiful, subtle and elegant. I was really struggling to choose which photos to showcase and not just leave in the gallery and boy, was my decision a hard one. I nearly overloaded you with the entire shoot
but, I held back (phew) even though it was a wee bit hard. Do check out the entire photo shoot in the gallery – it’s just gorgeous.
Ladies. This could be you!!! Trash that dress with a trash the dress shoot.
Read MoreIf you haven’t heard of Trash The Dress photo shoots yet, you must pay attention. The idea that after your wedding, be it that afternoon, the next day or the next month, you put on your wedding dress again and you get to play ‘model’ for a day in being as creative with your wedding dress as you like.
Rumour has it that Trash The Dress is all about setting your self alight while wearing your dress {really?!} or being drastically splattered by paint but the reality is Trash The Dress is purely for you to get to wear your dress, again!
And I am a huge fan of this idea!
A Trash The Dress photo shoot can be as adventurous as you want it to be but if the thought scares you, then you have to do it even more! :) You don’t have to make the dress unrecognisable, in fact, you can be subtle enough to ensure that one dry clean later and it’s back to show room condition. Trashing your dress is all about you and the dress and that’s it.
Thanks the incredible talents of Jan Plachy Trash The Dress is becoming Fine Art!
Read MoreOne of my favourite discoveries of 2011 was Trash The Dress and Trash The Suit. I love the concept of your wedding dress or the boys suit coming out of the damp, dark box in the roof and breathing fresh and funky light into the meaning of your nuptials.
I love the idea of doing it as an anniversary idea: a photo shoot in your dress-ups, just the two of you {no more having to worry about guests} and having the time-of-your-life in a Trash The Suit photo shoot.

I discovered the word 'fashion' 5 years ago while pregnant with my baby girl and quickly became determined that I would be a great influence to her. I don't want her to live the same 'Tom Boy' label that I'd been given all my life.
There is nothing better in life than being your own person: live it, love it, do it!
Warning: there is no candy-floss, ivory twinkies on this blog, instead you'll find a treasure trove of frabjous, unique wedding ideas.
