Winter Wonderland Mood Board - Alice In Weddingland

Mood Board by Stacey-Marie Chalk, Cherry Topped bespoke Weddings

As a wedding planner I love compiling inspiration boards for client weddings, they enable me to identify the style that the couple are aiming for. It also provides me with something which I can then share with suppliers so that they too can envisage the style of the couples’ wedding day. This ensures that each element of the wedding day will be created with the same colours and design in mind, so that when it all comes together it will be perfect!

Below is a wedding inspiration board, perfect for a Winter Wonderland feel. Imagine glamorous crystals, romantic candlelight, crisp white flowers and a hint of elegant ice blue. You can create a magical environment for your guests with crystal chandeliers and candelabras, combined with silver and glass candle holders. Using candles, spot lights and fairy lights will really enhance the sparkle.

For your flowers consider having the snowy effect of baby’s breath, eye catching anemones and some soft blue/grey foliage such as eucalyptus. Decorate the venue doors with white berry wreaths and luxurious satin ribbon in ice blue. Add something a little novel in place of a table plan by having crackers with guests’ names on the outside, which then crack to reveal the table name at which they will be sat for wedding breakfast.

I love the simplicity of the silver pine cone as a place setting, or treat your guests to a silver snowflake Christmas tree decoration. Serve up some White Christmas cocktails for the evening reception to get your guests into the party mood. Instead of a Christmas tree, display a silver birch tree with little wish tags for your guests to write messages for you. If you’re feeling extravagant why not commission an ice sculpture for your drinks reception, or even as a vodka luge for the evening!

Once you get your thinking hat on, there are so many wonderful and beautiful ways to create a winter wonderland for your wedding day. The key is to not go over the top, with too many different ideas and styles in one go. You will also need to consider the existing decor of your chosen venue, any colour and furniture limitations and any restrictions on what they can accommodate. Make sure you chat through your ideas with your venue to make sure you don’t go spending on items unnecessarily. As always, make sure you are true to yourselves in your choices.
