work is cleverly designed with ‘feminine’ in mind and suits all types of dresses. Remember, contemporary wedding dresses look stunning when matched with a vintage piece too. You don’t have to be in a vintage wedding dress to compliment it with vintage headwear.

With a passion for all things vintage, feathery and blingy Julia’s work is gorgeous and she’ll soon have her website available so that you can order her collection online. In the meantime, get in touch and keep up to date with her designs on her Facebook page or twitter @JuliaDVintage

From Julia

When Zarn from Alice In Weddingland told me she wanted to do a feature on my work I was so excited and then thought, “oh no” I have to write about myself, eek!  So what do people want to know about me and after blahing on with a lot of corporate speak I thought that’s not me, the real me is much more down to earth.  So here goes…

The face behind the name of Julia David Vintage Bridal is Julia Zakrzewski owner, designer and coffee lover. The David part is my long suffering husband 🙂 I’m an avid collector of all things vintage and I’ve been collecting for many years, I blame my wonderful Granny for my magpie nature because as she always used to say “get it, it’ll come in handy one day”, and she was right in 2011 Julia David Vintage Bridal was born.

Making and designing things has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember from knitting, sewing to silver-smithing, yes a qualified silversmith who morphed into designing wedding accessories because a dear friend asked me to design one for her wedding in 2011.  While discussing what she wanted she told me she was wearing her mother’s marcasite earrings and her married name would be Lilley, I had the perfect brooch a Marcasite lily so we designed it around the brooch, it really meant a lot to her.  My designs are all handmade and eclectic in nature as I design around each of my brides, what she wants and needs and when she’s happy, I’m happy.  With all my wonderful brides I either supply the vintage brooch or the bride herself supplies it, it’s wonderful to have a family heirloom amongst the bride’s accessories their something old.

My inspiration comes in many guises Trends, Art, Literature, Music etc but at the moment I‘ve an obsession with Art Deco, mint green, flowers and bows and I’m busy getting a collection together of headpieces and sashes for 2013.

Well that’s me, nothing unusual, just a woman with a passion for something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue.  Each piece is lovingly handmade by me and Made in England (how I love those 3 little words).  I hope you like what you see.
