I am passionate about quite a few things. The first, is my daughter, second is Alice In Weddingland, third is my hubs, fourth is drinking tea and fifth is baking!!! (I’ll stop there for now). I am a Donna Hay fan and love all things that include flour, butter and sugar so writing about wedding cakes has been a saviour that has kept me from putting on many pounds and forcing me to go to Weight Watchers every three months – thanks to seeing them everyday, my appetite is full – well almost!
I was over-the-moon when I found out that the scrumptious works of art below belonged to a company in Canada, (not the UK) otherwise I would have pulled up my vintage stockings, thrown on my Mary-Janes and high-tailed it up to the shop to do a most necessary cake tasting. Thanks to the company being in Canada and not here in the UK, my waistline is safe for another week but your inspiration isn’t.
The Cake Opera Co. (such a wicked name) is exactly as it sounds. Their cakes sing! No, seriously, they stand up like a Soprano belting out a coloratura at the Royal Opera House – commanding your attention. Their art is impeccable and those living in Toronto are sooooo lucky!
I remember back in early August when I wrote my first Unusual Wedding Cakes: Take one post, I found it a little difficult to find unusual cakes that were still stylish, elegant or spectacular enough as a wedding cake. Now however, I am so ecstatic to introduce you to a single cake company who have topped my list of inspirational Bakers. The Cake Opera Co. in Toronto, Canada do the most exquisite cakes I have seen and oh so wish to taste!!!
These will most definitely inspire you!
I was so inspired when I saw the cake drawings and then seeing them come to life in the photos. It goes to show that no limit of imagination is spared with the artists and pastry chefs who work as an incredibly talented team of people. Art has no boundaries and The Cake Opera Co. prove that no limits should be put on your imagination when designing a wedding cake.
So go for it. Let the sky be but half your limit and design something for yourselves that creates magical stories such as these cakes do. I am in love. Photos taken from The Cake Opera Co. website.
