Getting creative with your wedding chairs

Getting creative with your wedding chairs

Here it is… another frabjous post from my gorgeous Guest Blogger, Stacey-Marie Chalk from Cherry Topped Bespoke Weddings on the Alice In Weddingland wedding blog…

Creative Chair Covers

Trying to think of ways to make your wedding look and feel a little different? Then why not get creative with your chairs!

When visiting your wedding venue, take note of the chairs they have and whether they have the potential to be accessorised to suit your wedding style. If the chairs aren’t really suitable, ask your venue if they can store the chairs somewhere and if it would be ok to hire in alternative seating.

By spending a little thought on how to make sure the chairs complement your overall design, you can really make an impact in your ceremony and your wedding breakfast rooms. You could also create a relaxed and stylish chill out area or a trendy city bar feel by hiring in lounge furniture.

Think about the colour, material, style, shape and potential for adding decorative elements such as flowers, stationery, ribbons, fabric, fruit etc.

Dress your chairs with some elegant fabrics…

Moët & Chandon Advert

Moët & Chandon Advert

Moët & Chandon have recently produced a new campaign with Scarlett Johansson who is the celebrity ambassador for the brand and I think it’s stunning.  There is so much inspiration in this advert for all you girls planning your wedding; from the Champagne towers to the dress to the venue!  The elements in this advert could really add some sophistication and feminine elegance to your wedding theme.

Moet Shoot 1 Scarlett Johanson Dailymail 260x300 Moët & Chandon Advert Wedding Blog

There are definitely elements of it that could be used for a contemporary and Hollywood glam wedding.  Johansson’s classic bombshell style with big and bouncy blonde hair and full red lips, oozes sexiness and sophistication which every bride wants to feel like on their wedding day. I love her dress but unfortunately I haven’t been able to find out where it is from, if anyone reading this knows, please get in touch, I think it is gorgeous and would be an amazing wedding dress at any of the wedding types I mentioned above.

I know the traditional colour is white but a blue dress would definitely turn heads. My dress was a pale pink!

For a Hollywood glam theme you could add black and white to give the style a more striking edge and for a contemporary wedding you could add a number of different colours but I think a steel grey or cerise pink would look gorgeous. These colours could flow through from the bouquets and centre pieces to bridesmaid dresses. I love the use of balloons, it’s such a simple idea but looks visually amazing.

Nothing beats a champagne tower for old-world elegance, they look so glamorous, they definitely add a spectacular moment to a wedding.

The photos, by British photographer Tim Walker, were taken at Trianon, a 19th-century house built by Jean-RémyMoët on the Moët & Chandon Estate in Epernay, France.

Enjoy the Advert!  We did!

Steampunk Wedding Photo Shoot by Angie Peady

Steampunk Wedding Photo Shoot by Angie Peady

I‘ve been banging on about it all week so let’s get to it!!! Yay!!!

I was going to do a really long post for this one including loads of suggestions and info all about Steampunk Wedding photography and then introduce you to who is our latest entry into our (LWB) Little White Book under the tab Spectacular Photographers!  However, I think the photos speak louder than any words I could dream up, even with the use of a Thesaurus!

I fell in love with Steampunk the moment I discovered it only a month ago and have been keen to show you a spectacular example of what your wedding could be like using this theme.  It was when I stumbled upon Angie’s website that I got so (I will admit) over-excited about blogging about it.  I love the imagery Steampunk conjures up and Angies shoot just made me drool!
May I introduce you to a fellow Aussie, a photographer who I believe effortlessly creates evocative images, Angelica Peady.  Now, you can get creative photographers who tell great stories through their images and others who have superb imagery; composition, lighting and colours however, Angelica Peady is one of the rarities who does both!  Her images captivate the essence of what her subject is.

A Steampunk Wedding: What is Steampunk?

A Steampunk Wedding: What is Steampunk?

What is Steampunk?  What is a Steampunk wedding?  Up until recently I had absolutely no idea until I stumbled upon it while searching the internet. It is an eclectic mix of Victorian Science Fiction. Think Victorian-inspired wonders like steam-powered aircraft and mechanical computers. Think Jules Verne and H. G. Wells, think Captain Nemo’s submarine and of course icon smile A Steampunk Wedding: What is Steampunk? Wedding Blog think Alice In Wonderland!!!

Steampunk: Gizmos & Gadgets

There are magazines dedicated to it, websites dedicated to it and fashion and jewellery galore being created for it.  There was even the worlds first museum exhibition of Steampunk Art held in Oxford in 2010 and it is a rising trend in weddings.  This makes us extraordinarily chuffed as how appropriate is Alice In Wonderland within the Steampunk genre?  Top hats, whimsical accessories and stand out tea parties!  We couldn’t be happier.

I love it.  I wouldn’t necessarily style my wedding in full Steampunk but there are elements which are captivating to me because of their artistry, their bling factor and of course, it is vintage after all.  Like the fashion in the photo shoot I will unveil to you tomorrow (so excited!!!) and the accessories like the hats and the pocket watches – all details that can add a Steampunk dimension to your wedding.

Some Steampunk stuff is pretty hard core and is far too mechanical in its design for me, I’m a softy, but the fashion is incredibly feminine with an edge of strength, depicting the Steampunk Woman to be confident, self-assured and underneath all those clothes, extraordinarily sexy.  Who wouldn’t want to be like that!!  Raise your hand now!  (Mine just shot up in the air with a little bit of an uncontrollable twitch going on).  It has only been three years since becoming a Mummy so I am the epitome of the opposite to the Steampunk Woman: exhausted, has too close a relationship with trackkies, drinks far too much tea and irons frilly knickers in a desperate attempt to become sexy again).

Steampunk is here to stay and it is growing fast as a trend and genre.  Have a look at my previous post for a snippet of Steampunk Wedding Photography, it’s worth it.  If you love Victorian fashion, you’ll love Steampunk!

Steampunk fashion

Seriously, what woman wouldn’t want to wear this?  If not just for a day!

So how do you Steampunk your wedding?

Think Victorian.  Steampunk fashion has no set guidelines, it really is simply an amalgamation of modern styles influenced by the Victorian era. This may include gowns, corsets, petticoats and bustles.  And for the boys think suits with vests, coats and spats or even military inspired garments.

Gizmos, gadgets, and loads of technological or mechanical period pieces such as timepieces, parasols, goggles and top hats are the details that add the Steampunk flare.  I am in love with the zest for unique and whimsical weddings and Steampunk is surely a statement within that.

So if you fancy feeling like a confident, corset wearing character our of a Jules Verne novel then Steampunk should be your inspiration.

And, if I have tickled your curiosity, wait until I unveil the spectacular Steampunk photo shoot tomorrow. (Chuckle).
