The number of couples getting married is increasing after years of decline. In 2010 there were 241,100 weddings in England and Wales up by 8,657 on 2009 according to the Office of National Statistics. If 2011 followed the same trend then perhaps 2012 will too, then the coming months could be filled with nuptial celebrations, hen parties and stag do’s.
If you’re a bridesmaid taking an active interest or a bride looking for inspiration, Coast has one of the UK’s best collections of bridesmaid’s dresses to choose from which you can buy online and have delivered straight to your door. They offer a wide variety and colours allowing you to mix and match styles. We have picked three of our favourite bridesmaids dresses from Coast to help make your choice a little easier.
Allure Short Dress in champagne
The Allure dress (pictured) is one of Coast’s best sellers with a timeless appeal. It comes in both full and knee-length versions, but we particularly like the short version for summer. This summer fashion is going to be heavily swayed towards pastel shades that are elegant and sophisticated and this champagne colour is spot on. The dress itself is made from silk chiffon and frames the body perfectly. It has a removable corsage ribbon waist tie and shoestring shoulder straps offering versatility whilst the ruched bodice with enclosed boning helps to add definition and shape. The loose, fully lined skirt is feminine and flattering. The girls of Gossip Girl are also rather partial to a champagne coloured bridesmaid dress.
Felicia Short Dress in lemon
Another beautiful pastel coloured dress is the Felicia. This dress is a little shorter than the Allure and the addition of the gold belt also adds sassiness and shape. The boned bodice further emphasises your curves and the asymmetric drape detail on the skirt adds focus to your slimmest part. Something different to the usual plain bridesmaid’s styles, but this is why we love it.
Symphony Maxi Dress in rose
Another hot trend this summer is colour blocking in bright shades such as coral, emerald and turquoise. The coral colour of the Symphony maxi dress therefore is perfect way to channel this trend. This flowing floor length gown is elegant, timeless and it has long, draping detailing on the front, which helps to elongate the body.
